Employee Termination in Mozambique
Termination Process
EOR services allow you to manage the terms of a dismissal, which in the country require just cause. In addition, the employer must present the reason for dismissal in writing to the employee and the union within 30 days of the absence. Similarly, the employee has 15 days to respond to the accusation and the union has an additional 5 days to consult him.
Then, the employer will have 30 days to decide whether or not to dismiss the employee. In this case, the employer may dismiss an employee for the reasons established in labor law.
Notice Period
In case of dismissal, the employer must give the worker a notice period of 30 days.
Severance Pay
Properly manage the severance pay with the Employer of record in Mozambique, according to the salary received, as follows:
- 1 to 7 minimum wages, the employee receives 30 days of salary for each year of service.
- 8 to 10 minimum wages, the employee receives 15 days of salary for each year of service.
- 11 to 16 minimum wages, the employee receives 10 days of salary for each year of service.
- With more than 16 minimum wages, the employee receives 3 days of salary for each year of service.

- During the first year of service, employees are entitled to 1 day of vacation per month of work.
- In the second year of service, employees are entitled to 2 vacation days per month of work.
- Then, starting with the third year of service, employees are entitled to 30 days of paid vacation per year.
